Businessman and bibliophile. Born in Campbell, Steuben County, N.Y., 17 Mar. 1865; moved to Buffalo in 1891. He was a member of Bean, LaDue & Clawson, manufacturers of men's clothing until 1897, when he formed a partnership with James P. Wilson.
